The Huddle That Keeps Us Warm
So on my daily readings from National Geographic, there was something I found really interesting that I wou...
There have been seasons of my life where I’ve wanted certainty more than anything.
I wanted clear answers. I wanted to know why certain things happened, why prayers seemed to go unanswered, why God worked one way in someone else’s life but differently in mine. I wanted everything to make sense.
But faith has slowly taught me that certainty isn’t always the point.
Sometimes the most meaningful growth happens in the questions.
We often feel like we need to have every answer before we can move forward. We think that if we question something, we’re somehow failing. But I’ve learned that asking sincere questions isn’t the opposite of faith—it can actually be part of it.
Some questions are meant to lead us closer to God.
Others may simply remind us that we aren’t meant to understand everything in this life.
I once heard an analogy that has stayed with me.

Imagine you’re walking through a forest in the early morning while a thick fog covers the trail. You can’t see the destination. You can’t even see the entire path ahead of you. All you can see is the next few steps.
You could choose to stand still until the fog disappears.
Or you could trust the path beneath your feet and keep walking.
As you continue, the fog doesn’t always disappear all at once. Instead, it slowly reveals just enough for the next step, then the next, and then the next.
Life with God often feels that way.
He doesn’t always hand us the entire map. More often, He invites us to trust Him with today’s step.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.” — Proverbs 3:5–6
Those verses have become a quiet reminder to me that I don’t have to understand everything in order to trust the One who does.
I’ve realized that my faith hasn’t been built because every question was answered. It’s been built because I’ve continued walking even when some answers never came.
There are things I still wonder about.
There are scriptures I don’t fully understand.
There are experiences I can’t explain.

And that’s okay.
Not because those questions don’t matter—but because I believe God is bigger than my understanding. His wisdom isn’t limited by what I can comprehend today.
I’ve also learned that loving God was never meant to be complicated.
It’s easy to fall into the trap of believing we have to be perfect before we’re worthy of His love. Sometimes people—even well-meaning people—can unintentionally make faith feel heavy. Their opinions, expectations, or words can leave us feeling like we’re not enough.
But God’s love has never depended on flawless performance.
He isn’t waiting for you to become perfect before He welcomes you into His arms.
He already knows every habit you struggle to break.
He knows every mistake you’ve made.
He knows every question you’ve been afraid to ask.
He knows every part of your heart that no one else sees.
And still, He chooses to love you completely.
Nothing you confess to Him will surprise Him, and nothing you bring before Him is too messy for His grace.
When the world makes you feel like you have to earn love, remember that God’s love is a gift. When others misunderstand you, God understands your heart completely. When shame tells you to hide, God gently invites you to come closer.
His love isn’t fragile.
It doesn’t disappear because you stumbled.
It doesn’t fade because you’re still learning.
It remains constant, patient, and full of mercy.
I’ve also learned that discovering truth is usually a slow process.
It’s found in quiet prayers.
In ordinary Sundays.
In moments of peace that don’t always make logical sense.
In reading one more chapter of scripture.
In choosing to believe, even when I don’t see the whole picture.
We live in a world that often tells us we need immediate answers. But spiritual growth rarely works that way. It unfolds little by little, just like a sunrise. You don’t notice the light changing every second, but before long, the darkness has quietly given way to day.
I think God is patient with us because He knows we’re learning.
He isn’t surprised by our questions.
He isn’t offended by our searching.
He simply invites us to keep coming to Him.
To keep asking.
To keep seeking.
And to trust that He’ll reveal what we need when we’re ready to receive it.
Some questions may be answered tomorrow.
Some may be answered years from now.
And some may not be answered until we stand in His presence.
That doesn’t make our faith weaker.
If anything, it makes our trust deeper.
So if you’re in a season of uncertainty, you’re not alone.
Keep learning.
Keep praying.
Keep discovering.
Stay true to what you know to be true while remaining humble enough to keep growing. It’s okay if your understanding unfolds slowly. Faith isn’t about having every answer—it’s about continuing to seek God with an honest heart.
And above all, don’t let anyone convince you that God’s love is something you have to earn.
Come to Him with your questions.
Come to Him with your doubts.
Come to Him with your mistakes.
Come to Him exactly as you are.
Because He has never stopped loving you, and He never will.
You don’t have to have every answer to have genuine faith.
Sometimes faith simply means taking one more step through the fog.
And one day, you’ll look back and realize that even when you couldn’t see very far ahead, God had been faithfully leading you the entire time.
