A French Breakfast - Cinnamon French Toast

If your fruit bowl always seems to end up with a few overripe bananas sitting around, you’re definitely not alone. While banana bread will always have a special place in my heart, sometimes it’s nice to switch things up and bake something that feels just a little more special. That’s exactly where this Banana Bundt Cake comes in. It’s everything you love about classic banana bread moist, flavorful, and comforting, but transformed into a beautiful cake that’s perfect for sharing.
I especially love making this cake when autumn rolls around. There’s something about the cooler weather, changing leaves, and cozy afternoons that makes baking feel even more special. The warm aroma of bananas, cinnamon, and vanilla filling the house is one of my favorite parts of the season. That said, this cake is far too delicious to save for fall alone. I recently made it in the middle of summer, and it was just as much of a hit! Whether you’re enjoying a slice with a cozy mug of tea on a crisp October afternoon or serving it at a summer barbecue with friends and family, this Banana Bundt Cake is one of those recipes that’s perfect year-round.
One of my favorite things about this recipe is how effortlessly impressive it is. It comes together with simple pantry ingredients, doesn’t require any complicated techniques, and bakes into a gorgeous Bundt cake that looks like you spent hours in the kitchen. Finished with a rich, tangy cream cheese frosting, it’s perfect for family dinners, holiday gatherings, celebrations, or simply treating yourself after a long week.
So the next time those bananas become a little too ripe for snacking, skip the usual loaf of banana bread and give them a new life in this irresistible Banana Bundt Cake. I hope it becomes a recipe you reach for again and again, no matter the season.
Optional Garnish

Preheat your oven to 350°F. Generously grease a Bundt pan, then lightly dust it with flour to help ensure the cake releases easily after baking.

In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar on medium speed for 3–5 minutes, or until the mixture is light, fluffy, and pale in color. Scrape down the sides of the bowl as needed.

Add the vanilla extract and eggs, one at a time, mixing on low speed until fully incorporated.

Next, pour in the room-temperature buttermilk and mix until smooth. Add the flour, baking soda, and salt, mixing on low speed just until the dry ingredients are incorporated. Be careful not to overmix, as this helps keep the cake soft and tender.

In a separate bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork until mostly smooth. Add the mashed bananas to the batter and mix on low speed for about 30 seconds, or just until everything is evenly combined.
Pour the batter into the prepared Bundt pan, spreading it evenly. Bake for 45–55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean or with just a few moist crumbs attached.

Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 15 minutes, then carefully invert it onto a serving plate or cake stand. Let it cool completely before adding the frosting.

While the cake cools, prepare the frosting. Using a stand mixer or handheld mixer, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth and creamy, about 1 minute.
Add the powdered sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and heavy cream. Beat until the frosting is smooth and fluffy. If you’d like a thinner consistency, simply add another splash of heavy cream until it reaches your desired texture.
Once the cake has completely cooled, spread the cream cheese frosting over the top, allowing it to gently drip down the sides if desired. Finish with a light sprinkle of cinnamon for an extra cozy touch.

Store the cake covered at room temperature for up to 2 days, or in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. For the best flavor and texture, let refrigerated slices come to room temperature before serving.
There’s something so special about a recipe that brings people together, and this Banana Bundt Cake has become one of those recipes for me. It’s simple enough to make on an ordinary afternoon, yet beautiful enough to serve for birthdays, holidays, family dinners, or any gathering where you want to share a little homemade love. Sometimes the best recipes aren’t the most complicated—they’re the ones that fill your home with comforting aromas, invite people into the kitchen, and create moments worth remembering.
Whether you bake this cake in the middle of summer with fresh fruit on the side or during the cozy days of autumn with a warm cup of coffee or tea, it’s a recipe that never feels out of season. Every slice is soft, flavorful, and topped with just the right amount of creamy frosting, making it one you’ll find yourself craving all year long.
